Terravision provides ore sorting, instrumentation and custom vision solutions for the mining industry.  These range from benchtop soritng amenability studies, sorting pilot plants to complete contract sorting lines and on-line particle size photoanalysis. Terravision owns and operates a Commodas optical sorter as well as a variety of Terra Vision laboratory sorting systems. Terra Vision has strategic alliances and working relationships with Commodas, SGS Minerals Services, Met-Solve Laboratories and Wipware. The company was started in 2005 by Matthew Kowalczyk and Jean-Daniel Bussières.

Matthew Kowalczyk, Eng., President

Before starting Terra Vision Matthew led a R&D/Product Development team building vision systems for factory automation and quality control.  Prior to that he worked designing, testing and installing high technology gas nitriding furnaces world-wide.  Matthew graduated from the UBC department of mechanical engineering in 1998, working summers in mineral exploration. He gained further academic training at Laval University studying software engineering.

Jean-Daniel Bussières, Eng., VP Engineering

Jean-Daniel is a principal with Terra Vision. Before starting Terra Vision he was a  principal in a company that designed and built in high speed digital imaging systems for quality control.  Jean-Daniel has extensive experience in the design, implementation, installation and commissioning of vision systems for factory automation.  His creativity, along with the breadth and depth of his knowledge in image processing, has been instrumental in the success of many instrumentation and imaging projects.  Jean-Daniel is a graduate of Université Laval in engineering physics.

Peter Kowalczyk, P. Geo, Advisor

Prior to Barrick purchasing Placer Dome, Peter was chief geophysicist for Placer Dome Inc. He joined Placer Dome in 1970 and has worked in porphyry copper, uranium, base metal and gold exploration. Peter coordinated Placer's geophysical research and was deeply involved in the introduction and implementation of digital processing, visualization and geophysical inversion methods in exploration at Placer. As chief geophysicist Peter worked with exploration, mine operations, academic research and government groups world-wide. Although an exploration generalist, he has particular experience in the processing and interpretation of electrical data. Peter graduated from UBC with a B.Sc. (geophysics) and is a registered geophysicist in British Columbia. He is the owner of PK Geophysics and is currently also associated with Ocean Floor Geophysics and the Mira Geoscience Advanced Geophysical Interpretation Centre.
