Terra Vision joins the Wipware Value Added Reseller Network

Terra Vision was created in 2005 and has been supplying mine sites with various ore sorting services. Owner Peter Kowalczy, along with son Matthew and Jean-Daniel Bussière have over 60 years of combined experience with industrial vision systems and image analysis technology. This Quebec-based company is focused on helping mining companies cross Canada with their current operations. “We evaluated various photoanalysis companies for particle sizing technologies but decided to work with WipWare because of their depth of experience in the field, the breadth of their applications and installations in mining and their approach to customer service.” says Kowalczy, an undergrad of UBC's mechanial engineering program. “Adding the suite of Wipware products allows us to offer our clients a wider range of sensor based solutions to optimize their mining and mineral processing operations.” Terra Vision's goal is to continue to help miners, mineral processors, aggregate producers and consumers improve the efficiency and profitability of their operations by integrating sensor based systems into their control systems and processes.

Good news for the mining and mineral processing industry. A pilot plant for sorting tests has just been put into operation at SGS Mineral Services in Lakefield Ontario. SGS is recognized as the world leader in the development and demonstration of bankable flowsheets, pilot-plant programs, advanced systems, in-plant and geometallurgical services. Prospective customers now have the opportunity to submit ore to test their sorting suitability. CommoDas GmbH the supplier of this sorting technology is a leading global player in the specialised sector of mineral detection, characterisation and automated sorting. Terra Vision, an enterprise providing expertise in sorting plant operation and complete contract sorting solutions operates the system for SGS. The combined expertise and technology of these three companies is now at the disposal of SGS customers.

A 100 kg sample is sufficient for an analysis. Particle sizes of 1 to 3 inches are ideal for this system, although testing of coarser material can also be arranged. The optical sorter is a 2 camera system, for double sided scanning and is designed to withstand the tough requirements of the mining industry. Clients receive an independent "rock-solid" report from SGS based on the sorting results combined with chemical and metallurgical analyses that SGS offers.
